– Opening line of “The Hobbit”, by J.R.R. TolkienIn a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
The idea for this website occurred to me during my last job hunt. Some of the employers (especially the better ones) asked if you had a website. I’ve heard of artists and such having an online portfolio, but not a technician.Maybe most don’t, but perhaps if I did it might give me an edge.
Or maybe not. It (probably) won’t do any harm, at least. However, originally this site was going to only showcase my electronic projects. I’ve decided to expand it, since I do more than that. I don’t plan on any political rants, personal news, etc. That’s what FaceBook is for (is FaceBook still a thing, hypothetical future person?). I also fancy myself a semi-professional photographer. I have some images here, but they aren’t my best work; that’ll be over on my site Bluejacket Photo. If you are a recruiter of some sort, you’ll probably want to just look at the posts with the “Electronics” tag.
I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you’re looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money; but what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career; skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.

A word of warning, though. This place is more of a travelogue, and less of a “how-to”. There are countless wikis, videos, ticky-tocks, etc out there. I can’t compete with them in either amount of content or depth of knowledge, except in one area: me.
I’ll write about inspirations, and resources I’ve found of people more intelligent than I; I try to steal from the best. While I’m not a font of knowledge, I can easily be a horrible warning… You’ll see my mistakes, and I’m good with that. Hell, one of the great chefs, Julia Child, once set something on fire on live TV… She handled it like a champ, too. I honestly admire that. So please, learn from my mistakes so you can go out in the world and make your own!
One final thing (for now; I intend this to be a living document)… I’m not afraid to show or tell whose products I use, and maybe comment on how they work. Needless to say, all names and trademarks are the property of their respective holders. Their views are not my own (and vice-versa!). As of this moment (3/26/24), no one is sponsoring me, or giving me free stuff. That’s just crazy talk. If I somehow ever do get something for free, I’ll mention it up front. Same thing with any links I post.
This website, however, is my own. Everything unless otherwise stated is my intellectual property. No one is allowed to copy or publish these writings except as allowed by copyright law.
Now let’s break something!
